The top five corset mistakes that can cause a new corset wearer issues. Part 5 Taking off a corset

Part 5 Taking off the corset

When taking off the corset the temptation is to unclip the busks when the lacing is still tight. The top and bottom busks will come open as their maybe more room to wiggle them undone but then the pressure and tension is transferred to the ones still closed. Generally the middle ones around the waist. To get these little blighters undone can be a nightmare as the busk is gripped by the steel loop. If you use brute force then this will can cause bending of the steel busk and damage to the pins. You may even pinch your skin in the top and bottom busks as the corset is twisted in you efforts to escape. Ensure the lacing is free of tension before opening the front of the corset. Tell tale signs of a corset taken off too early are bent busks in the middle section of the corset. Just allocate some time to take off the corset as you did to put it on. Just work the lacing back through the eyelets after you have undone the knot. You did undo the knot! Do not be in a rush to take the corset off. Time is something the Victorians had a lot of.
